Possibility of reduction of Rs. 7 per unit price for K-electric consumers

K Electric has sent a request to Nepra for a reduction of Rs 7 per unit price on account of fuel adjustment charges.

According to the announcement of Ter Juman Electric, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a public hearing on December 27. K Electric has requested a reduction of Rs 7.04 paise per unit in the November 2022 Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA).

FCA depends on changes in global fuel prices and is passed on to consumers through bills as per rules and regulations set by Nepra and the Government of Pakistan.

Nepra approves the FCA after a public hearing and examination of the application and also determines the month, in which the fuel charges adjustment is to be passed on to the consumers. Global fuel prices have been recording a decline for four consecutive months.

The reduction in fuel charges adjustment for November 2022 is mainly due to an 18 percent in RLNG price, a 15 percent in furnace oil price, and the price of power purchased from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPAG) for September 2022. There is a 37 percent decrease in comparison.
